Born in Nashville, Tennessee, John Winters grew up surrounded by truly great music. He began formal music training at the age of thirteen, and continued on to study guitar at Austin Peay State University. While in school, John frequently performed at blues clubs on Beale Street in Memphis as well as jazz clubs and festivals around the southeast, sharing the stage with jazz legends like Benny Golson, Art Farmer, Bob Mintzer, and Jeff Coffin. Through his professional career, he sang and danced on stage for musical theater productions and continuously performed with a variety of bands. For the past decade, however, John has focused on his solo acoustic act. His virtuosity and professionalism have kept him in demand all over the world. In addition to playing in over thirty countries, John has also performed in Antarctica, earning him the rare distinction of having performed on all seven continents.
